To which the bruiser replies: “Well, dad, we have a pretense like this…”

It is, of course, understandable, but not given to everyone. Well, seriously, it will be about fashion for piercings. I had to experience the impressions of this fashion on my own experience. My daughter, without telling me anything, decided to make a surprise by getting her eyebrows and lips pierced in one of the private salons and paying 120 hryvnias for it (with earrings, of course). My daughter was beaming with happiness, and my nose was bleeding from worry for her health. On the second day, the eyebrow swelled and swelled, closing the eye. I went crazy and demanded to name the address of the salon where all this was done without my permission. But in vain. Later, the eyebrow healed, the daughter grew up and took out the earring. But her friend, being a freshman, managed to get her tongue pierced. All this almost ended in tragedy. After going on holiday with this fashionable accessory to Bulgaria, she found that her tongue had swollen, started to hurt and was making it difficult for her to breathe. It required the intervention of a doctor who removed this “toy” – and the girl literally came back to life. Young people do not always have a good relationship with piercings. Sometimes these manipulations with appearance pose a direct threat to health. And whether it is so or not, we decided to find out from Zhanna PRYHODKO, a dermatologist-cosmetologist of the highest category of the Lviv Cosmetology Hospital .
– Zhanna Oleksiivna, where did these “jokes” with piercings of the nose, lips, navels and so on come from, who infected our youth with this fashion?
– Fashion, of course, came from the West. But the women of India were the first to pierce their noses. Piercing there, if you can say so, had a certain semantic load. After all, an earring in the nose indicated a woman’s social status, that is, her marriage. In ancient Egypt, for example, to make a mistake: they were outraged.

How do you feel about piercing yourself and how safe is it?
– Personally, I am fine. Although I have to note that piercing is, first of all, a violation of the integrity of the skin and, of course, it should be done by a doctor, not some uneducated amateur. After all, this is nothing more than a mini-operation. Therefore, you need to know the anatomy well, perform everything with a sterile instrument, and when you need to apply anesthesia. How can one do without medical knowledge? I have an extremely negative attitude to piercings on the genitals, because it threatens blood loss, getting an infection into the urogenital tract, and there can be various diseases of the reaction to urination.
– After navel piercing, clients probably don’t have the most pleasant feelings?
– Well, first of all, after this type of piercing, clients may sometimes experience nausea, dizziness, even fainting. In addition, the healing of the navel is quite slow, a month in general. Of course, we give the client various solutions, ointments. In the first 10 days after the navel piercing, you need to take care of it very carefully. In no case should you pump your abs, undergo any physical exertion or, God forbid, do sports, because cracks may appear. After piercing, it is not recommended to remove the earring, it should be simply twisted and lubricated with a disinfecting solution, because for the first 10 days lymph oozes from the navel, which is often mistaken for purulent secretions. Therefore, these places must be disinfected with special lotions for a month. By the way, on the first day after navel piercing, you must wear a bandage.

– How to choose the right earring?
– It is advisable to choose an earring from a special alloy, which includes surgical steel. It should be of a certain length, thickness and with a certain angle of inclination. She is also selected by a doctor, and you have to go with her for at least a month.
– Very often, clients change surgical steel earrings to gold or silver ones. They are probably better than the so-called professional ones?
– Not at all. They are more expensive, but the body does not always perceive gold and especially silver well. Often these earrings do not take root and the client may develop a terrible allergy. Therefore, the best are still professional earrings made of alloys.
– What piercing is considered “stylish”?
– Of course, the navel. It looks very sexy, stylish and elegant on girls with a good figure. Although recently I had to perform it on a middle-aged, rather plump lady who came home from Italy. In general, it is a matter of taste. Navel piercing is definitely in the first place, the second is the nose; the lip and eyebrows are on the third. Fashion requires sacrifices, sometimes even physical ones
– What should be avoided when piercing the lip and eyebrow ?
– First of all tears, otherwise there will be scars. The eyebrow, for example, after piercing for 2-3 days swells up a lot, so it must be carefully looked after. At the request of the client, we perform all these procedures under anesthesia.
– Zhanna Oleksiivna, which part of the youth applies for these services most often?
– Students apply most often, and now also schoolchildren. However, the latter must have parental permission for piercing. It is better for students to do it starting from the age of 16.
– Still, Zhanna Oleksiivna, piercing is nothing more than a tribute to fashion. Is it worth taking such a risk?
– As they say, he who does not take risks, does not drink champagne! And fashion, as you know, requires sacrifices, but within reasonable limits, of course. For example, creative youth simply do not want to be like everyone else, they want to stand out from the crowd with clothes, accessories, and hairstyle. Piercing is one of the components of the image, the so-called punk culture. And whether someone likes her or not is his personal matter. So do not be afraid, dear parents, if your child one day appears in front of you with a mohawk on his head, in a “kosus”, breeches and an earring in his lip – these are only the fluids of the transition period and a way draw the attention of others to oneself. It is good that most of them pass with age.
