Has the skin changed after stress?

Has the skin changed after stress?

Nerves can contribute to seborrhea. How to cure it?

Did you just wash your hair a few hours ago, walk down the street in a hat, and your head looks like lard? Does the skin of the face shine and appear gray, covered with acne? A doctor can diagnose a person with such symptoms as seborrhea. Where does this disease come from and how is it treated? “There are generally two types of seborrhea,” says Zhanna Prykhodko, a dermatocosmetologist.
– The first type is oily: this is when the skin is constantly oily, the openings of the sebaceous glands are blocked, acne appears in their place… The second type is dry: the skin of the face and head peels, gray crusts form on it, the hair becomes dull and thin, falls out intensively.

– What causes seborrhea?

— The root cause of the disease is a violation of sebum production and a change in its composition. This, in turn, is a consequence of the lack of balance between estrogen and androgen hormones in the body. In an excessively fatty environment, the so-called lipophilic yeast-like fungi develop rapidly. This is a normal, invisible flora of the skin in most people, but as soon as the immunity has weakened (which, by the way, happens quite often in winter), the fungi become active. When there is not enough sebum and the skin is too dry, fungi and other microorganisms settle in scratches and cracks, causing redness, itching, and inflammation.

— Who is most at risk of seborrhea?

— For teenagers, in which the body is experiencing a hormonal explosion. At an older age, seborrhea is provoked by emotional stress, unbalanced nutrition and, I repeat, hormonal disorders. I remember a patient approached me: before leaving the house, this young lady thoroughly washed her hair, powdered her face… The fact that the woman had seborrheic dermatitis showed a specific smell of rancid fat (another sign of this disease) from the skin. It turned out that seborrhea has been bothering her since her relationship with her husband deteriorated. The disease developed against the background of stress.
On my recommendation, the patient visited an endocrinologist and gynecologist, suspicions of hormonal imbalance were confirmed. After complex treatment (drug therapy and dermatological procedures), the condition of the skin improved.

— How to take care of the skin so that it does not lead to seborrhea complications?

— If the skin of the face is too oily, it is necessary to wash in the morning and in the evening with warm water with tar or tar-sulfur soap, wipe it with a 1-2 percent solution of salicylic alcohol. In case of excessive dryness, the skin should be moisturized and lubricated with balms and creams. It is useful to wash hair with seborrhea with infusions of chamomile flowers, nettle leaves, and St. John’s wort.
It is very important to establish a regular balanced diet, remove fatty, spicy, pickled and smoked products, sweets, chocolate, coffee from the diet.
Often, together with lotions and balms, specialists prescribe drugs to patients that help to keep the emotional state under control, because the excessive and constant release of stress hormones has a negative effect, in particular, on the condition of the skin.
