Oh, corns…
Oh, corns…
A salt bath, a plantain, an aloe leaf cut in half, or a slice of lemon will relieve the pain of the callus.
Open shoes, which look so good on the leg, and most importantly – allow it to breathe freely, mercilessly rub the skin. Working with a shovel or shovel leaves marks on the hands in the form of calluses.
What to do in such cases? Is it possible to insure against corns?
We talk about it with Zhanna Prykhodko, a dermatologist of the highest category.
– Why do calluses appear?
– Calluses are formed in those places where friction occurs – this is a protective reaction of the skin. For example, they are often the result of incorrectly selected shoes. when they are too tight or, on the contrary, too big. And during agricultural work, calluses on the hands are formed due to the use of tools. when the skin is not protected by anything.
– The most painful fresh corn. What to do when he first appeared?
-At first, the affected area turns red, and later a blister filled with liquid forms. In no case should it be pierced or cut. because an infection or virus can get into a fresh wound, bacterial flora joins, and then inflammation and suppuration of this place is inevitable. With a fresh callus, you need to take a soapy or soda bath, then apply salicylic ointment to the callus or simply burn it with iodine and protect the affected area with a plaster. A salt bath will also help, which will numb the callus. If these tools are not at hand, you can use plantain leaves, apply a halved aloe leaf or a lemon slice to the callus.
Folk methods are known, when corns are smeared with onion juice or baked onions are applied. You can grate a raw potato on a fine grater, wrap this “porridge” in cheesecloth and apply it to the sore spot. Potato mass relieves pain and acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. But after steaming your feet in soapy water, apply garlic mass wrapped in gauze to the callus. It is very good for calluses to make baths with a decoction of chamomile, after which lubricate the skin with any fatty cream.
– What to do with hard calluses?
-You can’t get by with folk methods here. After all, hard areas of the skin have a rod that, like a root. grows into the skin to a depth of 1-5 millimeters, and external procedures do not give results. In such cases, even the method of cryodestruction (freezing with liquid nitrogen) is used. The use of special keratoplasty ointments is often helpful.
To soften the skin on old calluses. you need to take hot baths for 10-15 minutes every day. After which carefully rub the callus with a pumice stone.
But before that, be sure to consult a doctor. After all, it often happens that a vulgar wart that grows on the soles and palms of the hands is disguised as a callus. then grinding procedures will only contribute to its growth and spread.
If a person is prone to the formation of calluses. He should pay attention to vitamin A (for example, rub it on rough places, take it internally), as well as constantly monitor the skin of the feet and hands – moisturize. soften with special balms that have an anti-inflammatory effect, treat corns and cracks.
Since one of the conditions for the formation of calluses is sweating of the skin. Sprinkle the skin of the feet and hands with ordinary baby powder. And for working with tools, use rubber or fabric gloves. Shoes should be comfortable, suitable in length, thickness, height.
